About Keeshen
Keesh is a Malaysian drummer and educator with over eight years of experience across live performance, studio recording and teaching. Rockschool Grade 8 certified, he has played in bands spanning rock, metal, progressive metal, blues, funk, RnB and pop, and has toured nationally on more than three occasions.
That range shapes how he teaches. A student drawn to the odd time signatures of progressive metal, a tight pop pocket or a relaxed RnB groove will each follow a different path, built around their own taste, pace and personality rather than a fixed syllabus
Lessons start with the music students actually want to play, whether that is a favourite song or a groove they cannot stop thinking about. Keesh uses improvisation and genre blending to help students find their own voice on the kit, and solid technique develops naturally through playing music they love. For students aiming at the stage or the studio, he also prepares them for the Malaysian music scene, including live performance and recording sessions
Music has also been a way for Keesh to give back. He founded the Music for Awareness Society, which raises funds for social welfare through live gigs, and its concerts earned coverage in The Star newspaper. At Temuan Tutoring, an NGO supporting underprivileged children, he pioneered music education by developing a structured curriculum for students aged 5 to 16. Earlier, as President of his school Music Club, he led the band to a championship at the Battle of the Bands competition in 2017. Each of these experiences has taught him how to bring out the best in players of every background and level, and that is the approach he brings to every student he teaches.
