Bridging Stage & Studio: Azlan Invited to Conduct Drum Workshop at Universiti Malaya Music Faculty In an exciting milestone that highlights the connection between active industry practice and academic education, Azlan was recently invited as a guest lecturer to lead an exclusive drum masterclass and practical workshop at the Department of Music, Universiti Malaya (UM).
The session brought together music undergraduates, faculty members, and aspiring drummers eager to gain insights into real-world rhythm mechanics, dynamic control, and navigating the Malaysian music landscape.
Practical Rhythm Mechanics & Real-World Application Rather than focusing solely on traditional textbook notation, Azlan’s workshop emphasized practical drum execution, groove consistency, time-keeping under pressure, and genre adaptability. Students engaged directly in live kit demonstrations, interactive groove breakdowns, and limb-independence exercises designed to elevate both ensemble playing and session readiness.
